Jimi and Hound moved to Zukutra so that Jimi could finally try and make a career for himself in music. Whether that will work out or not is uncertain, but work is certainly not the only important thing in Jimi's life! Jimi is very fond of Hound, and dreads the day when he will be without him. He wants to make sure that Hound will live on in his descendants, and plans to breed Hound to develop a line of Hendrix dogs. Jimi is very keen on the environment, and is trying to live as eco-friendly a life as possible. He doesn't own a car or take taxis, and he wouldn't dream of buying fruit and vegetables that were grown miles away and then transported to the local shop - it's homegrown produce only for him! And no tumble dryer either; those things are evil! They use so much electricity, it's practically criminal - or it should be! |
Jimi has been working hard at work, though he hasn't been promoted yet. When he gets back from work the night before his day off he takes the time to play with Rosie (a puppy whom he adopted the day after he and Hound moved in) for a while before he goes to bed - he has been neglecting the dogs a bit as he's been so busy. The next day he pops to the Theatre to collect a guitar composition, and then the day is his own! He decides to chill out during the day so that he can go to one of the local clubs in the evening - he particularly hopes to bump into bouncer Shamika Kwa again, even though she wouldn't let him into the club last time! In the meantime, it's time for a nap, and maybe a bike ride to the local park or fishing spot. |
Later that day he decides to cycle over to the other side of Zukutra - he hasn't visited there yet, and his boss, Sri Allard, had told him that it was really an interesting place to visit (though he had added that he'd hate to live there!). So Jimi biked over to the lake, where he saw some amazing fish, and a wild horse. He decided to try his hand at a spot of fishing, but he found it a bit dull and didn't catch anything. It was a beautiful place, but very definitely alien! The trees were extraordinary; not just the colour, but the strange humming noise that the mushroom-like ones made when the wind blew. Jimi decided that he agreed with Sri - interesting place, but he was glad that he lived on the normal side of Zukutra! |
He didn't have time for a nap, but even though he was really tired he decided to go out to the club and see if Shamika was there. After chatting to her colleague Mackenzie for a while, he went up to the top floor and found Shamika. They chatted about music for a while, but even though he told her he was going to be a famous rockstar any day now she still wouldn't let him in to the club! More than her job was worth, she said. Still, she changed his mind when he gave her a $50 bribe! Inside the club Jimi was pretty bored at first. There was nobody there apart from him and the bartender! Talk about dead.... Still, he'd paid to come in so he was jolly well going to enjoy himself. Given the lack of other patrons, he decided to chat to the bartender for a while. Her name was Margaret, and she seemed nice, though she didn't talk about herself much, preferring to ask Jimi about himself and his dogs. |
Whilst Jimi was at work, Hound decided to go and explore Zukutra by himself. He had heard from a local stray that there was a cemetary in Zukutra where several animals were buried, including a unicorn. So he decided to go and visit there to pay his respects. He travelled alone across town for almost an hour before arriving at Zukutra Cemetary. He soon saw that the stray had been correct - there were several animal graves in a separate section from the human remains. He was overcome by sadness when he saw how untended the place was; apparently nobody cared about any of the departed souls here. He threw back his head and howled before lying down to sleep by the mausoleum. |
Jimi cycled to work early, and as he waited in the park outside the hopscotch court caught his eye. He couldn't resist trying it out, and to his great amazement local busker Will McCormick came over and asked if he could join in! They played until Jimi had to go to work. Much to Jimi's dismay Will was much better than he was, but oh well - at least he had a proper job, unlike some people! And he had high hopes that he'd get promoted soon. Whilst he was at the park his boss Sri phoned to say that he and his wife had just had a baby! He invited Jimi over after work to meet baby Marie. |
Jimi earned a raise that day, but not a promotion. After work he cycled over to see Sri and meet his new baby - and his wife Kaitlin, who he'd never met. Little Marie was cute enough, and Jimi quite enjoyed chatting to his boss. He wasn't a bad guy to work for, really. Whilst he was out Rosie grew up into an adult dog! Hound was excited to have someone to explore Zukutra with, and he really enjoyed Rosie's company now that he didn't need to look after her all the time. Jimi was exhausted when he got home, so he barely even greeted the dogs, much to their disappointment. Rosie really would've liked some attention on her birthday! |
Jimi got promoted! As he had the next day off, he decided to throw a party to celebrate, as well as to mark the end of his first week in Zukutra. He wasn't sure who to invite, so he asked everyone he knew - his boss, his colleagues, Shamika and her colleague, Margaret and Will and his wife Kate. Not everyone could make it, but everyone who did had a good time chatting and making new friends. Jimi really hit it off with Margaret! And Hound also seems to have settled in well - he and Rosie are expecting puppies..... It looks like moving to Zukutra is paying off for both Jimi and Hound! Who knows what the future may bring them both... |
